a. the building in which the Parliament of Australia assembles, with associated offices and facilities, situated in Canberra; opened in 1988, replacing the former provisional parliamentary building (Old Parliament House), in which the Parliament sat from 1927.
b. the building in which the Parliament of one of the Australian states assembles.
2. the building containing the parliamentary chambers of any of various other nations or states.
The oldest Parliament House in Australia, still used as such, was built in Hobart in 1855.
